Lewis C. Merletti
Mr. Merletti possesses extensive experience in planning and operations, training and instruction, and leading large organizations.
Prior to joining Powhatan Group, Merletti was the former Senior Vice President for the Cleveland Browns Football Organization, focused on all executive managerial and administrative tasks. As a Senior Vice President, Merletti was responsible for all operations including disaster recovery, and the direction, design and deployment of security for the entire Cleveland Browns operation (owners, coaches, players, the stadium, training facility, and team travel logistics). Throughout his tenure with the Cleveland Browns, he developed a variety of team building programs that included group counseling sessions, team motivational speeches, personalized interactive sessions and life style training blocks.
Merletti also served as the 19th Director of the United States Secret Service. As Director, he planned and directed all Secret Service protective, investigative and administrative programs worldwide. He was responsible to Congress for the management of the Secret Service’s annual one billion dollar budget. Merletti also served as the Assistant Director for Training, served three tours of duty in the Presidential Protective Division (PPD) for Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton, and was Special Agent in Charge (SAIC) of the Division. Previously, Merletti also served as a Special Forces (Green Beret) Sergeant for the United States Army. He received his B.A. from Duquesne University.
